Craftsmanship, Confidence, Community

Intuitive Woodworking provides structured woodworking instruction for youth in the Santa Barbara area, rooted in safety, skill development, and meaningful handcraft.

Crafting Wood, Inspiring Young Minds

In a culture dominated by screens and abstraction, young people benefit deeply from learning to work with real materials. Our programs teach foundational tool skills, workshop culture, and disciplined craftsmanship in a supportive, focused environment.

Our Mission

Intuitive Woodworking exists to cultivate capable, confident young people through structured, safety-centered craftsmanship. In a world increasingly shaped by screens and abstraction, we offer students the opportunity to work with real tools, natural materials, and one another. Through disciplined instruction and meaningful project work, students develop skill, focus, and respect for both the craft and their community.

Our Three Pillars

Skill
Students develop competence in measuring, carving, cutting, and finishing.

Responsibility
Tool safety, material respect, and workshop discipline are central.

Community
Small cohorts foster collaboration and mutual respect.

About the founder

With over 15 years of teaching experience — including four years internationally in Qatar and Taiwan — Ben Kenan brings both classroom depth and workshop expertise to his work. For six years, he has taught woodworking and movement within a Waldorf setting, guiding students in developing skill, responsibility, and focus.

Intuitive Woodworking reflects his commitment to traditional craftsmanship and meaningful, screen-free education grounded in real tools and real materials.
